- Loughborough University is a public research university in the market town of Loughborough Leicestershire in the East Midlands of England Loughborough University is based on a superb 440 acre single-site campus at the heart of the UK with an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research, strong links with industry and an unrivalled reputation for sport.
- Nottingham and Leicester are under 30 minutes away from Leicester and London is two hours away by train. De Montfort University, University of Leicester and University of Derby are some of the other universities in the region.

- Loughborough University is ranked 219th globally according to the QS World University Rankings 2020.
- In 2018 Loughborough was named best in the UK for student experience in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey for the fifth time since 2009.
- The university is the best sporting university in the world according to QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020. It is ranked 28th for Arts and Design, 49th for Communication and Media Studies and between 51 and 100 in the world for Architecture, Psychology and Mechanical Engineering.
- At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, over 120 athletes from Loughborough represented 8 teams, across 10 sports. In total, 35 medals were won by athletes with Loughborough connections. (if it had been classed as a country in its own right, Loughborough would have finished 11th in the 2012 medal table).
- Loughborough was chosen by the British Olympic Association as the training base and official Preparation Camp for Team GB in the run-up to the London 2012 Games.
