• Cardiff University is a public research university in Cardiff, Wales. Founded in 1883 as the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire it became a founding college of the University of Wales.

• The college adopted the public name of Cardiff University in 1999.

• The third oldest university institution in Wales, Cardiff University is a hugely popular UK university.

• Cardiff is a two-hour train journey away from London. Cardiff Metropolitan University and University of South Wales are some of the other universities in the region.

• According to the Guardian Performance League Table 2020, Cardiff University ranks 38th in the UK.
